Welcome to New Brighton Surf Life Saving Club
New Brighton Surf Life Saving Club was formed in July 1910, making it the oldest surf lifesaving club in New Zealand.
We are located on Marine Parade on the north side of the pier, opposite He Puna Taimoana Hot Pools.
Our club’s mission is to prevent drowning and injury on the beach over the summer months. We achieve this by providing a volunteer surf lifeguard patrol from 8th November till 15th March (11am-5pm) including Show Day and Waitangi Day. Paid Guard is from 22nd December till 5th February (10am-6pm) including Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years and January 2nd.
