The New Brighton Surf Lifesaving Club is the oldest surf lifesaving club in New Zealand having been formed in July 1910. New Brighton SLSC has had a distinguished history both as a lifeguarding and a sporting organisation.
New Brighton SLSC is as relevant to the wider Christchurch community today as it was back in 1910. The club continues to provide an invaluable community service in the form of voluntary lifeguard patrols. In the 2012/2013 summer season club members worked a total of 1276 voluntary patrol hours. Rescued 7 people, 12 First-Aids, 6 Searches, 618 Preventative Actions involving 4795.
New Brighton SLSC provides its voluntary lifeguarding service over the summer months Saturday 1-5 and Sundays 11-5. Please swim between the flags and if you have any questions or queriers don’t hesitate to ask one of our friendly lifeguards.
